The Continental Congress selects John Adams to represent the colonies in Europe. He must negotiate an alliance with France and secure a loan from Holland. His ten-year-old son, John Quincy, joins him on the trip. Together they brave a difficult voyage across the Atlantic and a frozen journey across Europe.
